Stage 1 – Essential Refinement

Stage 1, Essential Refinement upgrade kit for the first version of the Cambridge Audio Azur 340A integrated amplifier.  If you have one of the later evolutions of this (340A v2, 340A SE, 350A, or 351A), you can order a kit for those here.  You or your appointed technician must carry out the upgrade.  maudifi offers an upgrade service for UK customers, available here.

This maudifi upgrade adds detail and transparency, improves separation and increases the scale of the soundstage.  Width and depth of the stereo image are dramatically transformed to produce a more realistic musical performance. With the hidden potential of your amplifier released it can rival amplifiers several steps up the price ladder after maudification (made-up word alert).

  • Capacitors in main signal path upgraded at 4 points (NB the 340A V1 has fewer capacitors in the signal path than later variants)
  • Pre-Amplifier section
    • Reservoir capacitors uprated and upgraded
    • Bypass capacitors uprated and upgraded
    • Input buffer Op-amp upgraded to high performance alternative
    • Tone Control Op-Amp upgraded to high performance alternative
  • Power Amplifier section
    • Reservoir capacitors uprated and upgraded
    • Bypass capacitors added to reservoir capacitors
    • Local bypass capacitors uprated and upgraded
