Description

A maudifi Stage 2 upgrade service for Musical Fidelity’s Tri-Vista 300 integrated amplifer.  This is a monster of an amplifier with vacuum tube (or valve) based pre-amplifier section.  Like other large Musical Fidelity amplifiers they are rugged, but do not play to their full potential.  Sadly it is let down by the usual economic and other restrictions on the quality of components used.  If you want improved soundstage with greater width and depth, a more realistic sounding performance with more detail and more impactful dynamics, then this is the upgrade for you and your Tri-Vista 300.

The Stage 2 goes significantly beyond the performance of the Stage 1 upgrade, itself a considerable improvement over a stock unit, to offer greater clarity of vocals and detail, improved separation between instruments and a more airy and better depiction of recording space and scale.

Amazing results from Scott’s stage 2 upgrade.

Having always been a big Musical fidelity fan, (original Nu Vista 3D,M3, and X series), I’d recently been looking for a new more powerful amp to replace the Naim atom I had and couldn’t get excited over anything new so decided to revisit what the heart wanted and found a Tri Vista 300 in near mint condition with a view to getting it serviced to ensure it would be as good as new.

When I first played the Trivista with a Eversolo dmp-a6 and Kef R3 metas it was amazingly powerful and transparent but with the digital source felt very clinical. Although great I did miss the pace, timing, dynamics and the foot tapping results of the naim but enjoyed the power and cleanness of the trivista.

Whilst looking for a service centre I came across Maudifi and watched a few videos on his YouTube channel and contacted Scott for a quote for servicing. He was immediately very helpful and when talking about what I was looking for he recommended his stage 2 upgrade. As I was getting the amplifier serviced anyway I decided that this would be a great path forward but could not have imagined the amazing results when the amplifier came back.

After great communications throughout the upgrade, when the trivista arrived back it was absolutely transformed , pace, rhythm and timing was there in abundance along with not only foot tapping but was engaging enough to make me and the kids want to dance even at lower levels of volume. The original power, clarity and control of the amp is there along with a newfound lively soul I couldn’t be more pleased with it.

Along with the Eversolo I’ve now also linked it up with a Rega planar 6 and the results are stunning – a true musical experience. Thanks Maudifi
