Stage 2 – Wow!

Stage 2, takes the performance into an entirely diffierent level.  This is an upgrade kit for all the Cambridge Audio Azur 3xx evolution of integrated amplifiers, including the very first edition.  i.e. this kit is suitable for the 340A v1, 340A v2, 340A SE, 350A or the 351A.  You or your appointed technician must carry out the upgrade.  maudifi offers an upgrade service for UK customers, available here.

In addition to the improvements offered by the Stage 1 upgrade this maudifi upgrade adds more detail and delivers greater spaciousness / openness to the soundstage.  The clarity of voices in particular will surprise you.  After maudification (made-up word alert), this little belter will produce music close to the level of a high-end amplifier, for a fraction of the price.  Maybe even better than some.  Please see previous feedback.

• Components required for the upgrade provided:
  • Pre-amp input coupling capacitors upgraded to quality polypropylene film types.
  • Per-input electrolytic capacitors removed.
  • Pre-Amplifier Rectifier diodes replaced with Schottky types
  • Noise snubbers are added at 14 points
  • Pre-Amplifier section
    • Reservoir capacitors uprated and upgraded
    • Bypass capacitors uprated and upgraded
    • Input buffer Op-amp upgraded to higher performance alternative
    • Tone Control Op-Amp upgraded to higher performance alternative
  • Power Amplifier section
    • Power Amplifier Rectifier diodes replaced with Ultrafast types
    • Reservoir capacitors uprated and upgraded
    • Bypass capacitors added to reservoir capacitors
    • Local bypass capacitors uprated and upgraded
  • All electolytic capacitors upgraded further than those used in the Stage 1 upgrade, with higher level audio grade ones.
