Description

A maudifi Stage 3 upgrade service for Musical Fidelity’s A5 integrated amplifer.  This powerhouse of an amplifier is from what many believe was Musical Fidelity’s peak era.  They are rugged and rewarding, yet there is plenty of untapped potential within.  Think wider and deeper soundstage with greater detail and refinement with this maudifi upgrade.

The Stage 3 goes beyond the Stage 2 upgrade, to offer an even more refined performance.  All of the benefits of the Stage 2, but “amplified” for want of a better word.  So further detail, clarity and space.

  • Bridge Rectifier replaced with maudifi BRUF152 Ultrafast recovery inc. noise snubbing
  • 2 x Reservoir capacitors upgraded
  • Add bypassing to reservoir capacitors
  • Decoupling capacitors upgraded
  • Add maudifi DIP-8DB module to add missing local decoupling & bypass capacitors for main PCB op-amp
  • Add missing decouping capacitors on volume PCB
  • 2 x Op-amp upgrades – SparkoS SS3602 dual discrete op-amps (main & volume PCBs)
  • Add gold-plated turned pin IC sockets for future upgrade potential.
  • Coupling rationalisation (main & volume PCBs)
  • Main coupling capacitors upgraded with true audio grade polypropylene types
  • (2 x maudifi CapAdapt70 modules added to enable this)
  • Electrolytic capacitors in control circuits also upgraded for longevity.

  • 4 x power resistor upgrades with audio grade types
  • Output speaker wiring upgraded with Neotech UP-OCC copper in PTFE
  • Speaker Binding posts upgraded with KLE Innovations Classic Harmony
