Description

A maudifi Stage 2 upgrade kit for Musical Fidelity’s A5 integrated amplifer.  This powerhouse of an amplifier is from what many believe was Musical Fidelity’s peak era.  They are rugged and rewarding, yet there is plenty of untapped potential within.  Think wider and deeper soundstage with greater detail and refinement with this maudifi upgrade.

The Stage 2 goes significantly beyond the performance of the Stage 1 upgrade, itself a considerable improvement over a stock unit, to offer greater clarity of vocals and detail, improved separation between instruments and better depiction of recording space and scale.

• Pre-Amplifier
  • Bridge Rectifier replaced with maudifi BRUF152 Ultrafast recovery inc. noise snubbing
  • 2 x Reservoir capacitors upgraded
  • Add bypassing to reservoir capacitors
  • Decoupling capacitors upgraded
  • Add maudifi DIP-8DB module to add missing local decoupling & bypass capacitors for main PCB op-amp
  • Add missing decouping capacitors on volume PCB
  • Op-amp upgrades – performance audio monolithic (main & volume PCBs)
  • Add gold-plated turned pin IC sockets for future upgrade potential.
  • Coupling rationalisation (main & volume PCBs)
  • Main coupling capacitors upgraded with quality polypropylene types
  • (2 x maudifi CapAdapt70 modules added to enable this)
  • Electrolytic capacitors in control circuits also upgraded for longevity.

  • 2 x Bridge Rectifiers replaced with maudifi BRUFCC220 Ultrafast recovery inc. noise snubbing
  • 8 x Reservoir capacitor upgrades with 45% greater capacity
  • 2 x Bipolar electrolytic capacitor upgrades
  • 2 x Electrolytic capacitors replaced with PET film
  • 2 x Polyester capacitors replaced with polypropylene film
  • Output speaker wiring upgraded with Neotech UP-OCC
